The millennia-old theory of the four elements finds its counterpart in the natural sciences as well as in homeopathy. Life on our planet arose from combinations of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. At the very beginning stands Hydrogenium, which in the homeopathic theory of the periodic system also marks human conception, while Carboneum, Nitrogenium and Oxygenium represent the phases of the actual birth process.
Because of their unique significance, SPEKTRUM devotes a special issue to the four elements. As in chemistry, carbon is at the centre. Its typical compounds — from organic acids through alcohols and sugars to hydrocarbons — are to be characterised homeopathically alongside the elemental forms, by precisely those authors who have worked particularly in this field. The importance of the first and second rows of the periodic table is also addressed, as always illustrated by many practical case examples.
