A young, single woman who has suffered from an anal fistula for three years and has already undergone three operations for it, unfortunately without significant success.
Involuntary faecal leakage through the fistula.
- Initial impairment of general condition.
- The patient was apathetic, nervous and careless.
- Restless sleep with dreams of quarrels in her house and of business matters.
- A strong family history of cancer extending back three generations.
- Silicea C200 once weekly at bedtime, for a total of six weeks.
- Placebo to be taken three times daily, because although the patient was careless and not very conscientious, she was still never satisfied and the fistula had not yet healed properly.
- Myristica sebifera C200 once weekly at bedtime was prescribed.
After four months of treatment
The fistula had closed.
Bowel movements were normal again, and the patient's mental state had improved.
Suddenly the patient experienced burning on urination with frequent and intense urges to pass urine. She had to strain on the toilet. Cantharis C30, three times daily, was prescribed.
The burning stopped immediately, but the difficulty in passing urine did not. The patient still had to strain and was referred to a urologist for further investigation.
Investigations
- Cystoscopy – narrowing of the bladder neck.
- Ultrasound – multiple uterine fibroids.
- Thuja occidentalis C200, to be taken every five days at bedtime, was prescribed.
After three months of treatment
- Urination returned to normal.
- The patient no longer had to strain, but…
- The fibroids remained unchanged
The young woman was engaged and hoped to marry soon, but showed little interest. Anticipatory tension. Aversion to conversation. Suicidal tendency.
- Carcinosinum 1M, single dose at bedtime.
- Carcinosinum can have a relieving effect in an illness when a strong familial burden of cancer has built up over generations.
