Ready, steady, go… this is how smoking will become a thing of the past!

Here’s a confession: In my youth – until about my late twenties – I smoked occasionally.

There were times when I smoked a whole pack a day. It was foolish of me.

But because of that I know how hard it is to stop smoking, even though my active smoking period of about 10 years was relatively short.

As far as I can remember, I overcame the urge for a cigarette with cold showers. Every time the craving hit me – which was mostly in the evenings – I took a cold shower. (There were nights when I was in the shower more than once).

I wish I had had a bit more support at that time than just my – at times very wobbly – determination. If I had known about homeopathy back then, it would certainly have been easier for me.

The body is always trying to remain in balance. Never doubt that you will feel better if you stop smoking.

If you or someone close to you wants to take this step, homeopathy can help to ease some of the more unpleasant Spektrum_sucht.jpgaspects of withdrawal.

Once you have chosen the remedy that suits you, you can take the medicine two to four times a day. Start slowly and observe how things develop. If you do not notice any effect, you can take the remedy more frequently.

Nux vomica C30

Nux vomica (common nux vomica) is regarded as the remedy for the unpleasant effects of overindulgence and can alleviate symptoms such as irritability, nausea and digestive discomfort, which often accompany withdrawal.

Lobelia inflata C6

If you suffer from severe nausea, Lobelia inflata (Indian tobacco) helps during the withdrawal phase.

Argentum nitricum C30

Do not be surprised if you experience increased anxiety after withdrawal. That happens. Argentum nitricum (silver nitrate) can help to ease nervousness and anxiety… you will feel less wound up.

Ignatia amara C30

Another helpful remedy to have to hand during this stressful time is Ignatia amara (St. Ignatius' bean). Take this remedy if you react overly sensitively to pain and odours or are hyper‑sensitive to stress. Very useful for hypersensitive states that improve as soon as you are distracted.

Ignatia amara will help when everything becomes too much and you feel overwhelmed by it all.

Hopefully the mere thought of these aids will motivate you to get through the difficult phases without intervention. In this case, attack is the best defence. Prepare yourself! It’s better than buying cigarettes.
