If you have never had back pain or joint problems, you do not need to read this article.

If you have, you may find a homeopathic remedy here that can help you combat not only the symptoms but also the cause.

Whether from an accident, overexertion, sport or rehab training – we are all familiar with the physical and emotional stress that accompanies joint, muscle or back pain.

There are, however, major differences in the way symptoms develop. If you know these differences, you will find it easy to choose the appropriate homeopathic remedy. Read on!

More than thirty years ago I decided to treat my family homeopathically and to turn my back on the often habit-forming and, under certain circumstances, potentially dangerous conventional medicines.

Homeopathy is a gentle healing method that can relieve or cure pain – whether the pain is caused by a minor injury or by conditions that require conventional medical treatment.

The best part is that homeopathy does not merely numb the pain; it often unexpectedly accelerates the healing process and helps protect against possible long-term damage.

In other words: the body can repair the damage within a very short time and reduce suffering. The patient generally feels better. An additional bonus is that it all happens naturally, without synthetic or patented aids.

You can also take the appropriate remedies in combination. If two remedies are clearly indicated, you can take them alternately. For example: take Arnica C200 at midday and Rhus tox C30 at 1pm, then Arnica 200 at 3pm and Rhus tox at 4pm, repeating until improvement occurs.

Once improvement is noticeable, take the remedies at longer intervals. You will find the right rhythm.

Arnica montana C6, C30 or C200

Have you overdone it at the gym? Or were you out for a walk and a kerb caught your foot?

Arnica montana (mountain arnica) is, in this case, my first-aid remedy to relieve musculoskeletal pain that usually appears after overexertion or a fall. It is a wonderful medicine that can also be used when recovering from surgery. In addition, Arnica keeps bruising in check, which is important for the clumsy among us.

Bryonia C6, C30 or C200

Joint pain can be particularly troublesome and the slightest movement can make the pain explode. Sometimes the only help is to lie still. But lying flat all day fits few people's schedules. Bryonia (wild bryony) is especially helpful in these cases. Another symptom indicating Bryonia is pain that improves with firm pressure on the affected area.

Hypericum perforatum C6, C30 or C200

Back injuries are so widespread that the use of painkillers has reached almost epic proportions. Lower back pain that shoots along the nerve pathways can be particularly difficult to treat. For all neuralgias (nerve pains) you can use Hypericum (St John's wort). It is suitable not only for back pain but for all nerve irritations. Think of this remedy if you have been to the dentist or sustained a puncture wound in which the nerves were affected. It is a good remedy for injuries to the fingertips. Hypericum is something of the 'Arnica of the nerves'.

Rhus toxicodendron C6, C30 or C200

If your joints become stiff and immobile after a period of rest and are painful, you can do more than merely grumble like grandfather did when he overworked himself in the garden. Get Rhus tox (poison ivy/sumac) from the home medicine cabinet and take it. It is also a good remedy for those undergoing physiotherapy whose pain is worse at the start of treatment but improves once they have 'warmed up'.

Symphytum C6, C30 or C200

Bone injuries can be extremely painful. Symphytum officinale is the remedy of choice for fractures, bone bruises and even skull base fractures. It not only relieves pain but promotes tissue healing after the fracture has been set. It is an excellent remedy for arthritis and joint pain and an outstanding complement (in the C200 potency) to Rhus tox 30 not only for arthritis but also for muscle and tendon pain.

The effectiveness of these gentle and natural remedies is well researched. You too can benefit and relieve your pain entirely without side effects.
