My love life confuses me:

A case of Sorbus domestica

Service tree

A 42-year-old woman comes to the practice because of her bowel problems, which are more or less under control with the help of a naturopathic treatment. She suffers from irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, painful burning in the abdomen and bloating. Since she has been married — that is, for 22 years — she has had a Candida infection every year.

She takes medication and follows a strict diet, but the complaints remain, especially when she eats sugar. In addition, she has had hay fever since she was twelve, hypoglycaemia since puberty and joint pain for about 20 years. She describes herself as very sensitive and also reacts sensitively to medications.

Ten years ago she fell in love with a female colleague, which completely confused her: she felt as if she would lose herself. She broke down and became depressed. "I have always struggled with depression." She said that she had always experienced a certain anxiety about her heart, which improved after treatment. When she was eight, her father had a heart attack; she witnessed his anxiety and has been anxious ever since. As a child she was obsessed with the thought that she could stop her own heart, and it cost her a lot of energy not to think about it constantly. Her father was in a critical health situation: he had oesophageal varices and diabetes. She felt very close to him, as he was almost always at home.

Today she works as a volunteer carer. She needs a lot of sleep. She dreams of ghosts; in one dream her third child was bewitched. She herself is the third child in the family. Interestingly, Didier Grandgeorge's observation is often confirmed: third children are particularly receptive to the genetic inheritance of their father.

Analysis
The crisis arose from the confusion in her love life. She began to view herself critically: 'looking around' and 'doubt' belong to levels 3-4-5. Initially she had no idea how to deal with her feelings (level 4), and kept everything hidden from her husband and her colleague. Sorbus domestica is known for the theme 'hiding things from one's partner'. Her relationship with her father touches her heart: the love between child and parents also fits the Rosaceae. She may have needed this remedy from youth. The situation may have been triggered by her beloved father's health problems and the doubts and insecurity (level 4) about his health, in a developmental phase in which the child is necessarily attached to the parents. Heart problems in the family, her compulsive tendency to occupy herself with her heart, allergies and digestive problems in the small intestine are also characteristics of the Rosaceae.

Prescription: Sorbus domestica MK, single dose

After administration of the remedy her previous complaints briefly reappeared: abdominal pain, allergies and fatigue. A week later she could already eat what she wanted; that was new to her. She was able to omit her large range of naturopathic remedies. The only remaining complaint was slight pain in the thumb joint. Six months later she was largely symptom-free, but remained somewhat reserved. A year later she is now completely symptom-free.
