Lanthanides: Homeopaths as Patients

News

12_0801_lanthanide_1.jpg About 10 years ago I began experimenting with the lanthanides. It took five years to develop the picture of the lanthanides to a level that it could be published in book form: “Secret Lanthanides”. Since that time we have gathered a great deal of experience with the lanthanides and many cases have been published, for example here in the journal “Interhomeopathy”. The lanthanides have become such an important part of homeopathic practice that I often wonder how I used to

work without them. In fact we cannot do without them because they are very different from all other elements of the periodic table. At first I mostly used them in long-standing, stubborn, unresolved cases, but today I often prescribe them as the first remedy.

Lanthanides are of inestimable value to me, and besides that, the beauty of their pictures makes them attractive. One could say that the lanthanides bring us homeopaths back to ourselves. For the quality of reflection shown by the lanthanides is also evident in homeopathic practice.

In this article I will discuss the overall picture of the lanthanides to outline their place in homeopathy; the qualities necessary for a homeopath are to be found among the lanthanides.

Service
The primary motivation for wanting to become a homeopath is the desire to help people. Homeopaths want to make people better, healthier and happier. There is a striving to serve people and humanity. They want to help not just certain individuals but people in general and perhaps even improve humanity as a whole. This aspect is particularly pronounced in the gold series, to which the lanthanides belong.

Understanding
Another motive is the desire to understand health and illness. These people want to understand themselves, their body and their soul. By experiencing illness and healing day by day while working with their patients, they begin to understand how it works in themselves. This is not just a rational understanding – it is mainly about practical and emotional understanding.

Aversion to doctors
Homeopaths often have an aversion to conventional medicine and doctors. Certain remedies such as Arnica are known for this aversion to doctors. In Arnica we have the symptom: “He says he is fine and sends the doctor away.” This attitude is typical for the lanthanides. The Asteraceae, to which Arnica belongs, have a high content of lanthanides, and the picture of the lanthanides is part of their own remedy picture. Another strong motivation to become a homeopath is the ability to treat oneself and no longer be dependent on conventional medicine.

Freedom
The rejection of conventional medicine is closely linked to a dislike of external control. Homeopaths and the lanthanides want to be their own boss; they want to decide for themselves and not be dominated. That is exactly what conventional medicine does: it dominates them. Doctors tend to control patients and overstep their boundaries. They fill patients with pills, give them injections and vaccinations, and in the extreme form put their patients under anaesthesia and operate on them. The patient no longer has a will of their own. This tendency to dominate is also reflected in the way doctors often behave: as if they know better than the patient. They tend to decide for the patient rather than advise them.

Homeopaths want to decide for themselves and do not want to be dominated. For the lanthanides freedom is a central word. This can be expressed in different ways: a word that is often used is “own”. They want to go their own way, they want to live their own life, they want to do things in their own way. Of course the words of the other person are also important: they do not want to be told what to do; they do not want to be dominated or restricted by others.

Inner world
Another factor contributing to this attitude is that homeopaths have knowledge of their inner world. They have an intuitive understanding that illnesses come from within and not from outside. This stands in opposition to conventional medicine and its doctors, who see the cause of disease as an effect of the outside world and fight against external causes such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. If the cause, however, lies in the inner world, this fight against external causes is pointless and harmful. Therefore there is

a conflict between conventional medicine and the philosophy of homeopathy, which tends more to turn inward rather than act in the external world.

Secrecy
An important word for the lanthanides is “secret”. This is due to the theme of the “connection to the inner world”. The inner world is a secret world and in old times groups that dealt with the inner world and tried to develop it were considered secret societies, like the Rosicrucians and the Freemasons. The homeopathic movement as such is not a secret movement, yet it exists on a sidetrack of society. It is not mainstream and is often completely misunderstood, therefore it has some secret aspects. In some countries homeopathy is still banned to this day; therefore it went underground and became secret.

Philosophy
Homeopaths show a strong appetite for philosophy. This is also an important aspect of the lanthanides. It is connected with the desire to understand. The mind is not limited to a technical understanding but concerns the understanding of oneself, the world, the universe and the essence of the whole. It goes into the depths of life, pursuing the wish to understand what life means, where it comes from and where it is going.

Depth
The word “depth” is linked to the often-used word “deep”. There is a desire to understand things in all their depth and not only superficially. It is the depth we find in philosophy and religion, but not in superficial religious forms: it is a spiritual experience of life. One often finds this depth in homeopaths, and it is an essential characteristic of the lanthanides. Patients who need lanthanides often use the word “deep”. They have deep-seated pains, and they undergo deep experiences.

Postscript
Looking back at the development of the lanthanides over the past 10 years, the enormous expansion of cases and knowledge stands out. It fills me with great gratitude to have these remedies in my practice. There are many cases that have experienced wonderful healings with the help of the lanthanides, and for which I could not have done much without them.

The pictures of the lanthanides possess a kind of incidental beauty. Often they resemble the character of those who have chosen to become homeopaths. At the beginning of my practice we homeopaths often spoke about the contradiction between the success we had with our patients and the low success rate in treating ourselves: we joked that homeopaths were incurable! The lanthanides have changed this situation, and there is now much more that homeopaths can do for themselves. As if homeopathy were now giving something back to the homeopath.
