New approaches to the homeopathic treatment of acne

The next Zoom meeting among colleagues is coming up.
The interview for your dream job is taking place online and you want to present your best self on screen.
On your wedding day, with only close family present, you want the most beautiful photos to be taken despite AHA rules and hygiene measures.
What runs like a red thread through all these events? It is the exasperating spot (or even a complexion completely ruined by unsightly acne) that stands out on every photo and every screen. That one spot can be a real spoil-sport.
Complex complexion problems with and without a mask
Our complexion changes and varies throughout our whole lives. Whether as a child, a young adult or a woman going through the menopause – some of us never feel entirely free from this problem.
Hormones and stress play a big role. Diet also contributes. And more recently – thanks to current circumstances – masks have come into play. The result is always the same: the complexion leaves much to be desired. Radiant skin? Not quite!
The phenomenon of "maskne" (acne caused by prolonged wearing of a face covering) is, strictly speaking, not new. Nursing staff and doctors, laboratory personnel and technicians have known about this problem for a long time. Unfortunately, "maskne" is spreading further and now affects other people who wear or have to wear masks. Those to whom this does not apply can take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air. That does our skin good too.
The problem with face masks
I know people who put on a mask even when taking a walk on the beach. Even when they are walking there alone – for heaven's sake! Wake up and use some common sense.
Behind a face mask warm, moist breath collects on the skin. A perfect breeding ground for bacteria and yeasts. It doesn't take long before you look like a spotty teenager again.
The best remedy for "maskne" is fresh air. Take a deep breath.
The homeopathic solution
But let's get down to business. I have already published several posts on acne on my blog. Is the homeopathic treatment of "maskne" different from other forms of acne? You would probably say yes, wouldn't you?
But that's not entirely correct.
Okay, I'll digress a little here so you can understand that this blog reflects my own development and personal experiences as a homeopath. Many years ago I practised purely classical homeopathy. This is also reflected in my blog posts up until around 2013.
For example, in 2013 I wrote this blog Get rid of those annoying spots on the subject of acne. Even as a classical homeopath I already followed various approaches back then and sometimes prescribed more than one remedy at the same time.
I'll let you in on a little secret: most classical homeopaths do that all the time, but they don't openly talk about it.
The Banerji protocols
Then came my time with Drs Banerji. For eight years I was able to work with them and during that time I saw many of my own insights confirmed. It revolutionised my work, not only with my clients but also with my students.
The Banerji protocols focus on the symptoms without getting entangled in the complex and individual details of the underlying problems. Please don't get me wrong. Of course it's important to have a diagnosis. But it is the specific symptoms that point to the right treatment approach.
Do you remember Pippa? In Pippa and the Pimples I wrote about teenage acne. On my social media channels I have found that quite a few of you have similar skin eruptions, but think the Banerji protocol is not indicated simply because they are no longer teenagers. Here the Banerji protocols can really show what they can do and shine like a bright star in the sky.
It's the symptoms that matter
The symptoms are the same? Then the homeopathic remedy doesn't change either!
Here too the Banerji protocol for acne applies: Arsenicum album C200 together with Hepar sulphuris calcareum C200, one dose every two days. In my experience this protocol has proven very effective, whether stressed teenagers, happy mothers or suffering mask-wearers come to my practice. And the moral of the story? "Maskne" may be one of the many new Covid buzzwords, but it can't hold a candle to a treatment method with a 200-year history. All the more reason to spread the good news.
Homeopathy helps – spread the word!
Warm regards,
Yours
