Acne and unhealthy fats

Jessie's mother had a tough time. She did her best for her family, cooked healthy, nutrient-rich meals and treated acute ailments herself with homeopathy. But then came Jessie's fourteenth birthday and the acne. It was severe acne – with ugly spots that gnawed at Jessie's self-confidence and made life at school difficult. She was very ashamed of it.

The dermatologists wanted to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut and prescribe the Pill. Synthetic hormones for their young daughter? Taking antibiotics every day, possibly for several months or even years? Creams and ointments that would leave young skin red and cracked? You can do it without the Pill - Dr. Jolene Brighten

Homeopathy for acne

Jessie's mother chose a gentler but still effective method of healing: homeopathy.

The acne was severe and required the expertise of a professional homeopath. He asked Jessie many questions and carefully documented all the symptoms. He also inquired about her exact living circumstances. Another important aspect of the treatment was Jessie's diet. She was advised to eat more healthy saturated fats, which have a positive effect on the skin and also supply the brain with many important nutrients.

Acne and unhealthy fats

The diet of our children has a great influence on the appearance and overall condition of their skin. Even if we do not want to admit that some of our favourite foods may not be good for us, this is often the case. Among the worst offenders are gluten, preservatives, colourings and refined fats. Dairy products – both raw and pasteurised – can also cause problems. What does your teenager eat every day? Are there certain foods they absolutely cannot live without? Does your son or daughter have one or two slices of bread for breakfast every day? And do they scream in agony if you suggest changing that? Then wheat, for example, could be the reason for the acne. The foods we are used to are usually the ones we have become, in one way or another, addicted to.

Teenagers need to consume saturated fats as traditionally found in butter, tallow, coconut oil or palm oil. Healthy monounsaturated fats include lard and cod liver oil. When consumed in abundance, these fats are – contrary to general assumption – a valuable and effective remedy in the fight against acne. These traditional fats have been unfairly maligned, mainly because for the past 50 years only modern – but essentially harmful – vegetable oils have been sold to us as healthy. The real culprits are all hardened vegetable frying and baking fats, soybean oil, cottonseed oil and other refined vegetable oils. Teenagers should avoid commercial crisps, snacks and ready-made popcorn.

Specific homeopathic remedies for acne

If the acne is particularly bad on the back, Calc sulph D12 or C12 in combination with Silicea D6 are particularly suitable. Dissolve four tablets or pellets of each of the two remedies in a glass of water and stir vigorously once. One sip from the glass corresponds to one dose. In total, three doses should be taken daily for six weeks.

Calc sulph is a good cell salt to give the whole organism a thorough cleanse. The skin is the largest (excretory) organ of the body and protects all other organs and tissues. It not only protects against harmful external influences but also supports the function of all excretory organs in the body. Through the skin the body can detoxify and cleanse itself. Yellowish rashes are a sign that the body is lacking this cell salt.

Magnesium muriaticum, Kalium bromatum and Sulphur

Jessie's acne was always particularly bad before her period. In these cases Magnesium muriaticum helps. If Jessie takes this remedy once every two weeks for three months, not only will the acne disappear without a trace, but her menstrual bleeding will also stabilise.

Reddish-blue discoloured pimples that leave scars call for Kali brom. Silicea is indicated for hard, deep-seated pimples that do not come to a head but leave deep scars. Another very useful remedy is Sulphur. It is given for acne with very oily facial skin. The pimples are not as deep and hard as with Silicea and Kali brom, but they produce a lot of pus.

If the acne does not improve with these remedies, you should consult a trained homeopath. A well-qualified homeopath knows how to interpret the symptoms correctly and find the appropriate remedy.

Warm regards,

Yours
