I love everything that is poisonous – but only when it’s highly diluted, because then it becomes a medicine that heals

The dose makes the poison

Most of us hear the word “poison” and react instinctively with rejection, because poison is equated with poisoning. Believe me – I can understand that reaction.

But please also believe me when I say: “I love everything that is poisonous!”

Because when they are diluted and prepared according to the rules of homeopathy, the poisonous raw substances become some of the best medicines in the world!

Unfortunately, the general public is often misinformed about medicines made from poisonous substances. Most people do not know that a basic principle of homeopathy is to prepare poisonous raw materials in such a way that they not only become non-toxic but – what is much more important – in many cases can heal!

This is achieved through a pharmacological process called potentisation: the starting substance is diluted to such an extent that only a vanishingly small amount remains.

The law of similars

The most important law of homeopathy is: “Like cures like.”

That means a substance that in its raw form causes an illness will cure that illness, provided it is potentised and processed into a homeopathic remedy.

Think about it: you would never dream of taking pure arsenic, would you? And rightly so, because that would cause vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, collapse and worse. Who would want to take that risk?

However, when arsenic is prepared homeopathically and becomes the remedy Arsenicum album C30, it can cure exactly those symptoms.

I described this example in my earlier article about my husband’s severe – and I mean really serious – food poisoning. Had we not given Arsenicum album C30 every 15 minutes at that time, my husband would surely have had to go to hospital.

And when I was working with Drs Banerji in India, I was able to use Arsenicum album C30 for my own, truly awful, amoebic dysentery.

For those who dismiss homeopathy with the words “That’s just the placebo effect,” I’d like to briefly summarise a study that was carried out with Arsenicum album C30 on plants.

Homeopathic study on plants

You read that correctly: plants! Plants are not especially susceptible to placebo effects.

In the study, samples of duckweed were first poisoned with arsenic and then treated with either pure water or diluted arsenic. The plants treated with Arsenicum album C30 recovered more quickly!

It’s a very striking experiment that you can happily discuss with the sceptics in your family and circle of friends. If you don’t have time to read the full study protocol, here is a summary on YouTube

Not only for you, but also for your children, this can be a lovely “aha” moment.

Healing remedies from poisonous plants

Another outstanding remedy made from a poisonous starting material is Nux vomica. Nux vomica is my go-to for all occasions when someone has overdone it. Whether too much chocolate has been eaten or a night of heavy partying – Nux vomica will sort it out. The remedy is not only helpful for self-inflicted complaints. I remember when my father had to take a (conventional) drug that produced severe side effects. We were all very worried about him. His whole personality changed. He became extremely irritable, was bathed in cold sweat and suffered from intense nausea. Only two doses of Nux vomica C30 completely restored him.

And then there is Belladonna, deadly nightshade. Deadly nightshade is highly poisonous and many people think that the homeopathic remedy must be poisonous as well.

It is not!

The homeopathic remedy Belladonna D30 or C30 is a very important medicine for high fever. One of my sons had a high fever as a small child (40°C), during which he even had delirium. He responded quickly and promptly to Belladonna D30. After two doses the fever subsided and the illness slipped away quietly.

The cases in which remedies made from poisonous raw materials have not only helped but cured are almost endless – and that’s just within my own family.

I’ve just introduced you to three of these remedies and I couldn’t do without them. My whole family couldn’t live without these medicines!

Support homeopathy

Homeopathy is currently under heavy attack, particularly the homeopathic remedies derived from poisonous starting materials. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration; USA) has drafted new guidelines that may severely restrict access to certain homeopathic remedies. The government would then have the final say as to which medicines are available in the USA and which are not.

We must voice our concerns about this approach and put pressure on the FDA so that this cannot happen. Just think for a moment what this could mean for you, your family and your friends.

What would you do if your husband had severe food poisoning and you could not buy Arsenicum album C30 anywhere in the USA?

How would you feel if your child had a high fever and you were forbidden from having Belladonna C30 in your home medicine cabinet?

How would you feel if I told you about homeopathy but you could not legally buy the appropriate remedies anywhere?

What would you do if for every illness you had only one (un)choice: to take conventional drugs with all their side effects and interactions?

It’s unthinkable what would happen if homeopathy were to disappear before our eyes in the USA! I don’t even want to contemplate such a future. We must NOT allow this. We must support the organisation Americans for Homeopathy with all our might, and we must do it now!
