It always pays to know how quickly a homeopathic remedy acts. In this context, let’s compare the two remedies Aethusa cynapium and Helleborus, since remedies like these you should know inside out. You cannot afford to overlook them just because they do not appear in the repertorisation.
Case example:

You are called early in the morning at 5.30 am to a six-month-old child. The child is moaning, the fists are clenched and the eyes turned downwards – it is having convulsions. Without a dose of Aethusa this child will be dead half an hour later. That is the intrinsic tempo of Aethusa. From the outset the patient’s face is written with death.
Another remedy you must have ready is Helleborus.
Case example:
A bedridden middle-aged patient (between 40 and 50) begins to talk incoherently and falls into a coma at 2.30 pm. He is taken to hospital and dies there a few days later. (see also Kent’s Repertory – GENERAL – 14.30: Helleborus). One could say that at 14.30 the death knell begins to toll for this patient. Without a dose of Helleborus this patient cannot be saved.
