Do you have a homeopathic medicine cabinet? Does it perhaps make your curious guests a little envious?
You are different from most people. I am different from most people. And that's something we can be proud of, right?
The medicine we rely on and revere is like a great Mendelssohn Symphony or an original Cole Porter lyric – compared with the usual drugs, which are more like acid rock (please forgive my critical bias).
Our remedies don't act as if someone has slapped us. Instead they politely and intelligently steer the whole body in the right direction.
If one of your guests takes a look in your medicine cabinet, he or she will not find secret addictions or regimented medication use. On the contrary – your medicine cabinet will reveal a sophisticated, individual lifestyle. It will show everyone that an educated, enlightened and well-cared-for person lives here.
Dr William Osler – one of the founding fathers of Johns Hopkins – once summed it up: "He who takes medicine must recover twice; once from the disease and once from the medicine."
Already in the third generation we are blinded by the complacency with which pharmaceutically oriented conventional medicine surrounds itself, without thinking about the long- or short-term consequences involved.
But with us it's different – we are different.
Perhaps we should always leave our medicine cabinet a crack open so that our guests can take a look at any time.
What are they looking for? Mostly people are simply curious and want to know whether we deal with the usual everyday aches and pains. Indeed, pain is what connects many of us. Everyone has pain at some point!
Or they want to know whether you have a miracle cure hidden that keeps you young and fit. Maybe the curious guest simply wants to see whether you take the same extra-strong painkiller that he or she does.
Others are interested to know whether you also have to take several prescription medicines – after all, most people do.
It's also possible that your guest isn't curious at all, but simply has a headache and hopes to find a headache tablet in your medicine cabinet. Imagine the surprise if it contains only homeopathic remedies.
"What's that?" the guest might ask, shaking their head as they examine the little bottles labelled Symphytum C200 and Rhus tox C30.
We can only hope that people will ask you about the remedies, because we homeopathy users love to share our knowledge and help our friends whenever we can.
Even if your guest is embarrassed about having rummaged through your medicine cabinet, there's always the excuse that the cupboard door was open… (that was our intention, but let's not dwell on it now).
So, you can answer that question with confidence!
Symphytum C200 and Rhus tox C30, taken together orally, form the Banerji protocol for headaches that radiate from the neck and shoulders.
We encounter this type of headache frequently and if one of your guests suffers from it, feel free to give them a few of your pellets. Show your guest how many pellets to take – the dosage is usually indicated on the medicine bottle. Explain how to take the globules – the mouth should always be empty and free of food.
Then let the remedies do their work. In an acute situation, as is often the case with tension headaches, the dose may need to be repeated every 15 minutes until symptoms improve significantly. I have often observed, however, that a single dose reduced the headache enough that the sufferer no longer needed to scream in pain, but perhaps only to groan a little.
If your curious visitor has no headache at all and merely wanted to take a look in the medicine cabinet – okay, I'm going to call it what it is: rummaging – then simply give them a few pellets to take home! That way nothing can go wrong at the next headache attack.
Tension headaches in the neck and shoulders are so common that almost everyone will benefit from this treatment protocol from time to time.
Homeopathy is a medicine for anyone who has had enough of medication cocktails or is simply curious. And who can be more curious than the guest who takes a look in the medicine cabinet? Chances are they'll feel right at home with homeopathy.
So you can be proud of your medicine cabinet! It shows that an educated and discerning person lives here. Use the opportunity to draw family and friends' attention to this fantastic healing method.
There's hardly a better way to spread homeopathy. Pass it on!
Warmly,
Joette
