Homeopathy for Men – Healing for Urinary Tract Complaints

“… And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them, and he blessed them …” Genesis

Indeed, God created both men and women and their bodies are wonderfully different. A large part of the remedies I write about on my blog are not gender-specific. However, I seem to give more attention to the complaint patterns of the female body because my posts are read mostly by women – my female readers and students.

But men also have their own particular needs! In honour of all men and fathers we will take a closer look at the “Dad Bod”. (I don’t mean the average, somewhat more mature male body. Today I’ve borrowed a term from children’s and youth language that kids and teenagers use when talking about their fathers’ bodies).

As men get older they often find that their urinary tract works more slowly and is less “cooperative”. That is entirely natural and not a cause for concern – unless the changes become pathological.

What do I mean by that? Well, just because an older man can’t pee with the same force he did at 18, or it takes a little longer for the stream to start, there’s no need to panic. That’s life!

But if urination becomes increasingly difficult or the bladder cannot be completely emptied, then these are pathological changes that we should treat. Naturally, we would first turn to the homeopathic remedies we select for their specific effects on the male urinary tract.

Staphisagria for the Urinary Tract

My students learn in my courses that Staphisagria is an excellent remedy for narrowing of the male urethra that leads to slow, hesitant or incomplete urination. In my practice I have used both Staphisagria 30 and Staphisagria 200 for this purpose, to be taken every other day. Further information on dosage and potency can be found here. However, I would recommend that those new to homeopathy begin chronic conditions like this with a gentler approach by using Staphisagria initially at the 30th potency level.

(You may recall that we discussed Staphisagria for complications after catheterisation? See also here.)

The problem with this condition is – aside from the enormous inconvenience – that incomplete emptying of the bladder can lead to a urinary tract infection.

If the urine flow is simply weak, I might instead choose Cantharis 30 or 200 twice daily. (Again, I recommend beginners start with the 30th potency level).

Many Approaches Lead to the Goal

But don’t be misled into thinking these are the only two remedies we can use for urinary complaints in men. No, no and no again. Staphisagria and Cantharis are simply two remedies we should keep in mind. There are many others, which would exceed the scope of this article.

So, a conventional diagnosis may be necessary to find out whether the urinary problems might be attributable to the prostate.

Dear men, please don’t forget that we value you very much. It’s important to me that your inner strength is reflected in outer health. Well-chosen homeopathic remedies can do exactly that!

Homeopathy helps – tell every man you know!

Warm regards,

Yours,
