Homeopathy for Fainting Attacks
As part of homeopathic self-treatment, I would like to introduce remedies for fainting attacks today.
Fainting attacks are a unique strategy of the human body to cope with stress and deal with distressing situations. Misfortunes or other situations that evoke strong emotions almost always have a corresponding physical component. Fainting attacks occur when the normal heartbeat is disturbed and the heart temporarily fails in its function. Mostly women are affected, or people commonly described as sensitive. The causes of a fainting attack can be very diverse.
A fainting attack as a result of an acute physical emergency, e.g. heavy bleeding, or as a reaction to dreadful news, is easy to understand. But positive emotional events, such as the return of a loved one thought missing or dead, can also trigger a fainting fit. Other triggering factors can be hunger, stuffy, poorly ventilated rooms, or the sight of a bleeding wound.
Tight clothing can promote a fainting attack, so when a collapse is imminent you should lay the affected person down carefully — with the head lower than the feet — and loosen any tight clothing. Fresh air is important; ask bystanders to step back so that airflow is ensured and the patient can breathe freely. Many fainting attacks can be prevented with these simple measures. If, however, a full fainting attack occurs or the person remains unconscious for longer, it makes sense to provide first aid with a homeopathic treatment. Here are the four most important homeopathic remedies:
A patient who has been suddenly and severely startled and shows pronounced restlessness accompanied by fear of death can quickly be calmed with a dose of Aconitum napellus C30.
If the fainting attack follows joyful news, Coffea cruda C30 will be the appropriate remedy.
For fainting attacks triggered by grief or bad news, Ignatia amara C30 can help.
In some cases fainting attacks may be accompanied by nervous twitching and hysteria. The triggering event here is often a severe fright with great nervousness, comparable to the fear and tension seen in soldiers about to go into battle. This reaction pattern is often accompanied by diarrhoea and calls for Gelsemium sempervirens C30.
If the person is unconscious, dissolve the pellets in water and moisten the inside of the patient’s wrists with it.
Once consciousness has returned but the patient is still dazed and not fully back to themselves, the remedy can be given orally by placing the pellets between the lower lip and the gum, where they will dissolve and be absorbed through the oral mucosa. Homeopathic remedies do not need to be “digested”, i.e. taken up via the stomach lining.
In each of the situations described here the appropriate remedy can be administered every 5–15 minutes until the normal condition is restored.
Homeopathy brings relief when something in life goes wrong and quick, yet gentle help is required. The mild mode of action of homeopathy removes ailments gently and sustainably and fully restores the patient’s natural vital force. Do you know any other treatment method that not only revives the vital force of an unconscious patient but also tackles the cause at the same time? A therapy that so thoroughly removes the underlying fears that old, long-buried traumas are eliminated and the person is strengthened both physically and mentally?
Homeopathy has already helped millions of people. You too can make use of the gentle powers of this treatment method when life is once again in disarray.
