Homeopathy and cataract

The logic seems obvious: if you can avoid a surgical procedure for cataract, then you should. Why not?

Who wants to voluntarily take yet another medicine or undergo another operation? For most people the list of medicines they have to take daily is almost as long as an ancient scroll.

You shouldn’t have to define your life by the various ailments that trouble you one way or another, but by your sense of adventure, your drive and the many happy memories.

This attitude must run in my family, because there are a number of relatives who are sceptical about medicines and medical interventions. My cousin Mario is one of them.

Mario is a true adventurer and loves to travel. Every few weeks or so he was on the road – either planning his next trip around Europe, a ski tour in Colorado or a road trip across the USA. No doubt he must already have suspected that his eyes were not at their best. After all, he was over 70 when his ophthalmologist informed him that he had a cataract. The news was absolutely devastating to him, because he had not lost his taste for adventure.

But his vision was clouded and it was as if Mario were looking out at the world through a permanently fogged window. And the views he used to enjoy on his travels no longer excited him as much.

Rather discouraged, my cousin considered surgery but had serious reservations because of possible side effects and the obligatory use of cortisone. If something went wrong during the operation, he would have to abandon his dream of travelling forever. Even worse: he would feel truly old!

He wanted to think it over and decided to call me for advice.

Calcarea and Belladonna for cataract

In Calcutta I had learned of a treatment approach that might also help Mario. The Banerji protocol for cataract is Calcarea carbonica C200 in combination with Belladonna C3, taken once daily for several months. Perhaps this could be the solution to my cousin’s problems, and he started taking it straight away. At this point I will not claim that this protocol works for every cataract patient. Nor will I promise that you will regain perfect vision, but it is always worth a try. And it won’t cost you a fortune.

Very gradually Mario began to improve, at first almost imperceptibly. Every few months my cousin reported back that he was still taking the remedies. Over time he casually mentioned that he could see better with the worse eye.

At that point he felt confident enough to drive at night again. This was therefore not an improvement on a psychological level, but a physical response.

My cousin’s vision steadily and sustainably improved over months. More importantly, the cataract has not progressed further. Several years have now passed and Mario has not needed surgery. His vision is not perfect, but he is happy with it and can still drive, albeit with a few minor limitations.

When I last spoke to him he was planning a trip to Mexico. Packed in his luggage were his glasses and a packet of Calc carb and Belladonna “just in case”.

To summarise for you: Mario took Calc carb C200 (he already had this in the home medicine cabinet because his wife had cured her allergies with it) and Belladonna C3 (from the pharmacy). He took a few pellets of each daily. For more information on remedy potencies see the following article: D- or C-potency: that is the question.

With kind regards,

Yours
