Homeopathic help for exhausted mothers

Mother and child

The secret superpower of mothers: their care

They say mothers have eyes in the back of their heads – and indeed, they have an unfailing eye for their children's needs. No matter what difficult situation their child is in, the likelihood that the mother notices it is high. Why? Because mothers worry constantly – it's almost their vocation; it's in their genes, so to speak.

Especially when a child is ill, the mother stays awake to check during the night whether the situation is getting worse or if the first signs of improvement are visible.

But who takes care of the mother?

Of course, homeopathy! It offers valuable support when the right remedy is chosen. But even though I'm addressing mothers here, this does not only apply to mothers in the traditional sense. The role of 'mothering' can take many forms. Perhaps you are caring for a sick partner, a pet, or elderly parents? Then you are taking on the maternal role too!

Or are you in a phase of life in which you are simultaneously caring for your older parents and children who have not yet left home? This double caregiving is a special challenge – and fathers can also find themselves in the 'mother' role.

Homeopathic help for overburdened mothers

When a mother looks after someone all night, the lack of sleep becomes apparent the next day. The feeling of physical exhaustion can be well alleviated with Arnica montana 200. Take it twice daily until you feel fit and recovered. Further information on dosage and potency levels can be found here.

If, however, after a week of taking Arnica no noticeable improvement occurs and the exhaustion persists, it is time to reconsider. As soon as worries and troubles dominate the overall picture, Cocculus indicus 30 may be the better choice. It is also recommended here to take it twice daily until a clear improvement is felt.

A key symptom for Cocculus is the 'night vigil' – a term that appears in the materia medica of the old masters. It describes staying awake at night over a loved one who is ill. Night vigil does not only mean physical exhaustion from lack of sleep, but also emotional strain from worries. Picture the image of keeping watch at the bedside – that is exactly the night vigil. And that is what Cocculus indicus 30 is for.

Arnica or Cocculus?

The decisive difference between the two remedies lies in the type of strain. If the exhaustion is caused solely by lack of sleep, Arnica 200 is the right choice. However, if severe worries and emotional strain are added, Cocculus 30 helps better.

Being a mother – whether of children, pets, a partner or parents – is a full-time job. Even though today is Mother's Day, we cannot simply hand over the responsibility and care for our family. But when push comes to shove and even the strongest mothers are exhausted, it is worth consulting homeopathy. It stands by you and helps you remain the rock in the surf for your family.

Happy Mother's Day!

Warmly,

Joette
