Hay fever and other annoyances – the best homeopathic remedies for the summer

News

Here in the USA Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. Over this weekend there are picnics everywhere, parades, baseball tournaments, beach days and much more. For many people the holiday weekend — traditionally spent outdoors — also brings hay fever and the occasional overindulgence with all the disastrous consequences for digestion.

There are also quite a few young people who at this time have to cram for their final exams and spend the whole weekend at their desks. Exam anxiety and nervousness included.

However, the solution to the problem is not far away, because in the homeopathic medicine cabinet we find everything we need for these situations.

Hay fever remedy AmbrosiaHomeopathic Pocket Pharmacy for Leisure, Sport, at Home and On the Go - Eberhard Laubender

Whether you spend the day at the national cemetery laying flags or meet friends and family for a lively picnic in the park – hay fever is often present. One of my favourite remedies for hay fever is Ambrosia 30.

After I moved to Florida I took it myself occasionally when my eyes started to water, itch and swell. But having taken Ambrosia from time to time in the past (usually for about two or three days each time), I now only need it very rarely. That’s the beauty of homeopathy – in contrast to conventional medications, which can almost inevitably lead to dependence!

Party mood and homeopathy

Planning to go to a party? Alongside your world-famous potato salad you can also bring a homeopathic remedy for digestive complaints – every guest will be eternally grateful to you for it.

Do you remember which homeopathic remedy is suitable here?

A few doses of Nux vomica C200 (or 30 if that is the only potency you have to hand) can ease the unpleasant consequences of a celebration where things got a little out of hand! Learn more about dosing and potency in homeopathy here.

In my materia medica I describe Nux vomica thus: “Difficulty falling asleep due to mental excitement, digestive complaints or headaches which are triggered and perceived even by the slightest noise and are very disturbing, call for Nux vomica. Awakening in the middle of the night, especially with digestive complaints, can also be an indication that requires this remedy. It has an excellent reputation for alleviating the awful effects of a hangover after a night of heavy drinking (or even just the feeling of having a hangover).”

So if you find that one of your guests has had a little too much to drink on Memorial Day, give them a few globules of Nux vomica 200 to take away. He or she will thank you the next morning. (Perhaps even that same evening, since Nux vomica is also very effective for problems with falling asleep.)

Gelsemium for exam stressThe new Students' Home Pharmacy - Rosina Sonnenschmidt

And lastly I mustn’t forget those of you who will have your nose in a book over the weekend. Don’t be afraid! You are doing exactly what you need to do to shine in your upcoming final exams! If you also have a small packet of Gelsemium sempervirens 30 to hand, you’ll be well equipped against exam stress. With your hard-earned knowledge and nerves of steel, the exams won’t stand a chance.

Dear readers, if you have these three remedies ready for the weekend, you will go down in the family chronicle as a hero or heroine! And all the recognition will be yours, because I can only offer advice.

I wish you lots of fun celebrating, in the confidence that with the help of homeopathy you can cope with anything! And what could be more wonderful than helping others to become healthy and happy?

In this spirit I hope you will also take a moment to pause and remember the true reason for the celebrations – the people who gave their lives so that we may be free. The simple fact that we can enjoy the weekend with our families is thanks to the soldiers who fought and gave their lives to defend our values.

We also owe our freedom to decide how we care for our families – namely with homeopathy – to the soldiers who gave everything so that our country would not fall into the hands of an oppressive regime. This idea is by no means far-fetched.

Their sacrifices must not have been in vain. We owe it to them to appreciate our freedom and to use it for the best. I therefore strongly encourage you to stand up for this freedom.

Ignatia for trauma and PTSD

And to all veterans and family members who are reminded by this day of the horrors and traumas of war, I would like to recommend reading my blog post about Ignatia for PTSD, grief and stress. If someone you know is currently going through a hard time, share this article and give them a small tube of Ignatia 200 as a thank-you for the sacrifices they have made.

And as always: spread the good news – for freedom and for homeopathy!

Warmly,

Yours,
