Bronchitis – and suddenly coughing again!

News

bronchitis

You are going about your daily business, thinking nothing of it, and suddenly it hits! You can almost feel something coming on. And you will surely know that feeling of having caught something — the first signs of a cold or some unknown respiratory virus that has chosen you as its new host.

But you don't worry and remain calm, because you know immediately what to do. You know the Banerji protocol for respiratory viruses, which I wrote about in my last blog post A whole alphabet soup of viruses.

What? You haven't read the post yet? Then best catch up right away, because time, as we know, moves pretty quickly!

But let me pick up my blog from last week for a moment.

Sometimes, despite all efforts, a virus takes hold and seriously upsets our airways. And quite suddenly a harmless cold can develop into bronchitis.

To be honest, with early bronchitis I would still use the Banerji protocol I discussed last week — because of its broad action on the lungs. (And yes, I want you to click the link to learn more about this protocol. There are no shortcuts when it comes to learning!)

Let me insert here that while I generally advocate a conventional diagnosis for all unknown illnesses and non-specific complaints, many people with bronchitis can often very clearly feel when the virus has taken a turn toward bronchitis — even without examination. If someone recognises the symptoms from a previous experience, I consider them wise enough to judge their own condition without an unnecessary doctor's visit.

But at this point you must face your own fears! Just because you fear that a simple virus might worsen does not mean that it will. So I do not recommend switching to the Banerji protocol for bronchitis "just because" you are nervous and worried. Please wait until specific symptoms appear before choosing a homeopathic remedy. The key word, dear readers, is medicine. Homeopathy is MEDICINE. Use it therefore with care and only when needed.

The Banerji Protocols

However, if you have already started the Banerji protocol for bronchitis and respiratory viruses — i.e. Aconitum napellus 200 in combination with Bryonia alba 30 — you may not need the information I'm about to give you. The remedy Kalium carbonicum 200 is a strong medicine for mucous membrane disorders, particularly in the chest and airways. Further information on dosing and potency of the remedy can be found here.

In general, Kali carb 200 is taken once daily for a mild bronchitis. For a severe bronchitis, however, twice-daily administration may be required. (Again, you should set aside your fear and try to assess the severity of your condition impartially — without being clouded by your own anxieties).

Should the bronchitis progress further, there are other, more specific remedies to turn to when particular symptoms arise. But first I would like to paint you a picture. And I mean that literally.

Imagine I'm a landscape painter. Because there is so much sky outside, I always start my painting with the colour blue. And why? Because this colour covers the whole picture.

But today I'm sitting in front of a forest. So after I have washed my canvas with blue, I need to add some green. And the sun is low in the sky — so I have to add a few orange and deep red tones.

Oh, and look! A small grey squirrel is sitting on a branch, so a dab of grey goes in. And of course I can't resist the daffodils over there in the flowerbed, so I dab a little yellow into the painting.

See what's happening here?

I may have started my painting with the colour blue, but the more details I noticed, the sharper my focus became. Of course blue still has its value; it is my base tone! But as more nuances are added, blue recedes in favour of the more specific colours.

Homeopathy is just like my painting. (And now you also understand why I chose the photo for this blog post!)

In this case we start with our "blue" — the broadly framed protocol for viruses and respiratory infections, Aconite 200 in combination with Bryonia 30. (Please click and don't cheat — see above!)

If bronchitis does occur, we pull another "colour" from our palette: the more specific remedy Kalium carbonicum. And for a very severe cough we can select a completely different remedy again. Weakness in the lungs? Again, a new, specific medicine.

We move from the major remedies to the more specific ones depending on how the condition develops — just as I did with my painting. Because homeopathy helps — spread the word!

Warmly,

Yours
