The collaboration between Christa Gebhardt, a journalist, and her husband, the homeopathic physician Jürgen Hansel, has produced an unusual book. “Fortunate Cases - Remarkable Healing Stories with Homeopathy” is a collection of 13 case histories by various homeopaths that document life stories, illnesses, the homeopathic treatment and the subsequent improvement, even in severe illnesses. The authors travelled across Europe and to India to speak personally with those affected. They have succeeded in conveying not only the life stories but also the surroundings, the particular life circumstances and the atmosphere in which these people live so vividly that the connections with the illness become clearly recognisable. |
The illnesses themselves – often serious conditions such as meningioma, autoimmune diseases or severe depression – seem almost secondary: a natural, inevitable manifestation of psychological distress on the physical level. This is not a dry summary of facts, tables with headings and remedies, but an encounter with real people whose individuality is of decisive importance. The choice of remedies is presented clearly and convincingly, as are the striking results, even in cases that would normally be considered incurable. As one would expect with a holistic approach, not only the physical improvement but also the growing sense of inner freedom in the patients plays a part. However, the authors also make it clear that not all homeopathy patients achieve the spectacular results shown in this book. The authors present a realistic view of homeopathic practice with all its highs and lows and the often lengthy search for the simillimum. The "spontaneous recovery" frequently cited by sceptics as the reason for improvement after a homeopathic treatment is finally laid to rest. The authors present a variety of approaches with cases from well-known and highly regarded homeopaths such as Jan Scholten, Rajan Sankaran, Ulrich Welte and Jayesh Shah. The choice of remedies ranges from familiar remedies like Carbo animalis and Plumbum metallicum to the lesser-known Neodymium oxydatum and Chonchiolinum, or even completely unfamiliar remedies such as Scorzonera. Because of this diversity, the book offers something for both the homeopathy beginner and the experienced practitioner. The very manner of case-taking is a shining example of how the art and knowledge of homeopathy can be practised profoundly for the benefit of patient and therapist. The book is equipped with a periodic table of the elements and a glossary for those unfamiliar with homeopathic terms. The simple and clear narrative style creates such a sense of closeness that one feels present at the case-taking, a quiet but attentive observer. “Fortunate Cases - Remarkable Healing Stories with Homeopathy” is a book that the practitioner, after reading it themself, will gladly display in their waiting room or pass on to family members, friends and all who are interested in discovering the profound healing possibilities of homeopathy. “Fortunate Cases - Remarkable Healing Stories with Homeopathy” is a wonderful labour of love. ************************************************************************** |
