The patient was born in 1948.
Diagnosis: alcoholic, chronic lung disease; tense neck and shoulder muscles.
In 1995 he had a heart attack..jpg)
He had been very restless as a child. Hurried. "I am always in a hurry, everything must be done quickly. If I have an appointment, I always have to be punctual." He suffers from anticipatory tension. There are several alcoholics in the family.
His father had heart disease and was also very restless. Because of his father's heart condition he had to take over the family business. He would rather have become an artist, a painter. Working in the company – a construction firm – did not really give him pleasure. He is a very sensitive and sociable man and not cut out for the hard business of construction. At first he only drank before business appointments, but over the years this became a habit he eventually could not control. After his heart attack he sold the company, moved to another town and began to paint. The restlessness, worries and anxieties, however, remained and were only eased by alcohol.
Prescription: Argentum nitricum LM6, one pellet daily.
Follow-up:
He felt more relaxed, worried less and was able to recognise the good in life again. He was still hurried, but could take things more as they are. His relationship with his wife improved and he spent a lot of time painting.
Discussion:
Hurry and anticipatory tension are typical for Argentum nitricum. With knowledge of the periodic table of the elements one recognises the artist in Argentum; hurry and tension are more characteristic of Nitrogenium. Argentum nitricum could be translated as follows: the artistic side is not given enough space. After taking Argentum nitricum he was able to enjoy painting (Argentum) more (Nitrogenium).
