That homeopathy can also perform remarkable things for dental conditions is less widely known.
The French dentist Jean Hégo, Professor of Dentistry in Lille, had many years of experience in the use of homeopathy in dentistry.
His work is extremely simple and handy and written for clinical practice. It comprises a manageable number of remedies and 22 important indications in dentistry such as injuries, gum inflammation, tooth decay, herpes and bleeding. The practical book is rounded off by a brief description of 44 commonly indicated remedies with valuable prescribing tips.
Alongside frequently used polychrests such as Arnica for injuries or Hypericum for inflammation of the periodontal ligament, Hégo also used lesser-known remedies — such as Hekla lava for salivary stones or Cheiranthus cheiri for problems during the eruption of wisdom teeth.
The work is ideal for quick reference and is aimed at both dentists and interested laypeople.
Jean Hégo
(1927-2013)
After studying dental surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Lille (1945–1950), Jean Hégo worked in Bertry until he completed his doctoral thesis in the field of dental surgery in 1972. He then became a professor at the dental surgery faculty in Lille (1976). He was a member of the French National Academy of Dental Surgery and remained active in teaching until 1993.
Jean Hégo came to homeopathy through A. Rouy, who was able to cure his wife of a chronic illness. This left a lasting impression on Hégo. He wanted to learn this healing art himself. He therefore began his studies with Prof. Aimé Benillouz, R. Zissu and Ch. Garcia and eventually became a leading homeopathic clinician himself.
Jean Hégo was involved in the introduction of a homeopathy diploma as part of postgraduate medical education at the dental faculty of Lille (1976).
