The grain for this bread is 100% wholegrain. A bread delicacy with a fine, subtly sweet flavour, which develops during the long, gentle baking time of up to 20 hours.
The pumpernickel in the light‑protected tin stays fresh for a long time thanks to the special pasteurisation process – completely without chemical additives. This provides a ready supply of bread for camping, emergencies or crisis situations.
The long‑life bread is, for food law reasons, labelled with a shelf life of up to one year. However, this type of tinned bread has been shown to remain in perfect condition for much longer. There are long‑term tests in which unopened tinned bread remained in perfect condition for 20–30 years.
