For food regulatory reasons the pumpernickel in the tin is labelled with a shelf life of up to 2 years. However, this type of tinned bread has been shown to keep for much longer. There are long‑term tests in which tinned bread was still in perfect condition after 20 and in some cases even over 30 years.
