Super written, understandable and profound at the same time
I have now read 2 out of 5 parts of the book and can already say that it is absolutely worth taking on the large number of pages. Gabor Maté describes much of what I already know, but also much of what I suspect as a highly sensitive person with PTSD without yet being able to prove it or put it into words, with reference to the latest scientific findings. I am hopefully looking forward to the fifth part of the book, which is about healing. Books like this are valuable for people who strive for connectedness and wholeness but are often overwhelmed and paralysed due to their biography and social environment. I think the book shows in an understandable way why healing cannot be a purely individual matter, but why personal symptoms can always be traced back to the social and interpersonal aspects that give and shape the individual and that being human can be so much more beautiful if we (re)learn collectivity and tenderness.
