Unimedica bromelain capsules from pineapple extract with 3,120 GDU | 6,240 F.I.P per daily dose (1,040 mg / 2 capsules) contain 520 mg bromelain per capsule. GDU is a way of comparing enzyme potencies. F.I.P is the international unit for measuring enzyme activity.
Bromelain is the collective term for the protein‑digesting enzymes of bromeliads. These enzymes were discovered in the stem of the pineapple plant and were first characterised in 1876. They are also present in the fruit. The French explorer André Thevet already described in the 16th century the great importance of pineapple to the indigenous peoples of South America, not only as a food but also in their traditional medicine.
The bromelain used in Unimedica's bromelain capsules is obtained naturally by extraction from pineapple. Fresh stems are peeled, washed and crushed. Pressing produces a juice, which is centrifuged to separate the active components. These are then freeze‑dried, milled and processed into plant‑based capsules.
Each jar of Unimedica bromelain capsules contains 120 capsules. This corresponds to a two‑month supply.
Vegan and free from the following additives
Vegan capsule shell made from pure plant cellulose (HPMC), free from carrageenan and PEG. Unimedica bromelain capsules are, in accordance with legal requirements, free from additives such as colourings, stabilisers, preservatives and anti‑caking agents like magnesium stearate, and are GMO‑free, lactose‑free, gluten‑free and vegan.
