This spray contains the essential oil of the Swiss stone pine. Ethanol is used to facilitate the dispersion of the oil in the air. This also releases the aroma more effectively.
How does the pine scent get into the bottle?
The stone pine oil used comes from wild growth in the Austrian Alps in Tyrol. The needles and branches of the Swiss stone pine are handpicked for this. The raw materials are then traditionally steam-distilled in a copper kettle. This preserves the authentic, pure scent.
How steam distillation works
In this process the plant parts are exposed to steam. The steam separates and releases the volatile, water‑insoluble components from the plant material, which then rise with the steam. In a cooling system the steam subsequently condenses into a liquid from which the essential oil is separated. This method is particularly gentle, as the delicate oils are not overheated. This ensures a high quality of the stone pine oil because the original constituents are largely preserved.
