Children and adolescents are suffering significantly from the multiple crises of our time. The past few years have been characterised by restrictions from the pandemic with school closures and the disruption of social contacts, but also by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine with the loss of security, and not least by the tangible effects of climate change and fear about the future. According to the study "Youth in Germany", 25 percent of young people struggle with their mental health — more than ever before. They often do not address this directly, but instead exhibit behavioural problems or withdraw completely into themselves. The psychophysical system switches to fight-or-flight mode and activates the stress system. This leads to symptoms such as restlessness, tension, nervousness, school failure, aggression, depression and anxiety. A homeopathic treatment can, with a well-chosen remedy, strengthen both resilience and vitality. Equally important for coping with psychological problems is empathetic support. In this issue of SPEKTRUM, our authors want to show how, in practice, a way out of the crisis can be found together with the children.
