Remedy families play an increasingly important role in homoeopathic case analysis. They mostly correspond to the orders known from biology and physics within the various kingdoms of nature. Some groups, however, are based on particular shared characteristics. Drug remedies share a similar effect on humans, marine remedies share the same habitat. Gases, in turn, are defined by their physical state at 0 °C. Without a fixed form or structure they can be compressed or expand to fill the entire available space. Their particular properties are expressed in homoeopathic case-taking on the level of sensation as a feeling of constriction, compulsion and pressure, or, conversely, boundless expansion. In a gaseous remedy these typical sensations combine with the characteristics of its position in the periodic table. Gases are found especially in the 2nd row of the periodic table (oxygen, ozone, nitrogen) as well as in period 7 (the halogens) and period 8 (the noble gases). In addition to these gaseous elements, this issue also presents compounds such as Phosphorus hydrogenisatus or Ammonium causticum and the path to such little-known remedies in case analysis.
