The OPC forte capsules from Unimedica contain a high concentration of grape seed extract, measured using the well-established UPLC method. This extract contains a substantial proportion of pure OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins).
The grapes for Unimedica's OPC forte capsules are grown and harvested in the wine region of France and gently extracted on site (water extraction). This helps to preserve the valuable constituents of the high-quality French grapes to a large extent, particularly the OPC content. The capsules are manufactured in certified facilities in Germany. The dried grape seed extract is enclosed in a plant-based capsule shell, which makes administration and dosing easier.
What does OPC mean?
Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) are secondary plant compounds, so-called flavanols. They belong to the polyphenols. These plant compounds protect plants from excessive UV radiation, parasites and extreme climatic conditions. Unimedica's OPC forte capsules contain this natural plant defence compound concentrated by extraction in a high-strength form.
Do other foods also contain OPC?
OPC occurs naturally in several foods, not only in red and white grapes and grape seed flour. OPC is also found in certain tree barks (e.g. from pines) and in various berries and fruits. However, the French grape is considered one of the best natural sources of OPC. Therefore they are also used for the production of Unimedica's OPC capsules.
