Skin-healing recipes
This book offers recovery that comes from within and makes you resilient and strong. The suggested diet is raw, natural and unprocessed. With her skin-strengthening and skin-healing recipes, author Marianne Sebök endeavours to combine health and pleasure. The recipes in this book are intended as a starting point for healthier skin and can be customised by the reader to suit their own health needs. The basis is nuts, kernels, seeds, good oils, wild herbs as living food, plenty of fish and lots of salad, vegetables and herbal teas. First of all, the author describes what psoriasis is and how she managed to cure it - primarily with nutrition - after receiving the devastating diagnosis of "psoriasis" with words like "incurable". That doesn't exactly build you up. But Marianne Sebök, a wellness trainer by profession, has cured herself with the concept presented here and has now been free of symptoms for 10 years. Her diet often, but not exclusively, favours raw, natural and unprocessed foods rather than whole foods. However, "getting healthy and staying healthy" involves a little more than just a balanced diet, and she makes no secret of this. A complete package awaits the reader in everyday life, but here it's all about nutrition. We prepared salmon fillet with nettle vegetables, the paprika and olive spread and we liked it, and the other recipes sound tasty and varied if you study them carefully. The book is clearly structured: first a few basics about illness, then the basics about spices and nuts (fats), followed by the recipes with lots of vegetables, cereals and pulses, fruit and dairy products, eggs etc.. She mentions the herbs - the power of green wonders - that have particularly helped her and that appear in many recipes, such as basil. Without basil, known as "the king herb", almost nothing works in her kitchen and this herb is used in many different ways. Parsley, an "all-rounder", is also a must in this kitchen, as a remedy for anaemia, bladder and kidney problems and for cleansing the liver. As the essential oils in parsley have a germicidal effect, they also help with skin and mucous membrane infections and support all excretory organs, including the skin and slow-healing wounds. Then there is a list of foods to avoid, which is not new to me and could be found in many books. But it is very helpful and important for people who have no other experience with nutrition. I feel a bit like another reviewer here in that I can't really understand why the author consumes a lot of dairy products, which is controversial these days in the case of autoimmune diseases. But everyone has to find that out for themselves and she doesn't say that you have to do it exactly like that. No, she advises you to experiment a little with food, to taste it for yourself and to find out what is good for your body, because recovery comes from within, according to the motto in this book. It's not just about getting full, but about treating yourself to healthy indulgence. She reveals what is healthy for the skin in her recipes. As she has had great success herself, you can follow her path and try out the delicious recipes for a while. CONCLUSION Beautiful book, delicious recipes and a convincing author.
