Not at all recommendable
I read about 1/3 of this book and skimmed the rest. I was speechless: the author recommends viewing trauma recovery as "an intense hobby". This is disrespectful to people who have to go through their deep wounds again! She also recommends finding a "good job, good friends, a nice roof over your head" etc. before dealing with the trauma - as if such processes, where everything can go haywire, could be controlled in this way. This may be possible for some people, but for others it is not, and to generalise here is, in my opinion, anything but empathetic (as the subtitle would have you believe!). And she spends ages making comparisons with extreme sports, where everything is very foggy and confused. My opinion of this book: superfluous and even hands off. There are far better, more professional, more helpful and more empathetic books out there: Pete Walker, for example.
