Produktinformationen

– Dr. Claudia J. Dewane, Associate Prof., Temple University

A revelation for many clinical pictures
After several burnouts, many decades with depressive moods and panic attacks, sleep disorders, workaholism, perfectionism, helper syndrome and other "varieties", this book is another very productive building block for me for a deeper understanding of many behavioural reflexes. I observe these not only in myself and the people I am allowed to accompany in working through their personal issues. I discover them widely in discussions on Facebook; on the tram; in films; and in many more places than I would like... This book about PTSD is constructively moving and authentic because of Pete Walker's personal experiences described in it. It is not brittle or factual from above. I am familiar with some of the aspects described for dealing with the consequences of trauma from behavioural and body therapy. I can also confirm the pitfalls involved. Apart from that, I have been successfully using spiritual-energetic methods and philosophies on a daily basis for many years. In conclusion: Have the courage to start or continue! In appropriate doses, alone and with the help of others. In my experience, "miracles" are possible - even if they are usually worked for consistently. And this book has a few keys to open previously blocked doors.

A milestone for patients and therapists!
Since I myself, like the author, am both affected and work with those affected, the book is a revelation for me at the age of 62! I suspected much of this before, but here I find confirmation that this complex post-traumatic stress disorder is incredibly common even without the experience of physical violence! It also explains why conventional psychotherapies are only effective to a limited extent in these cases and, above all, gives you a wide range of very concrete, practical tools; embedded in a structured therapeutic concept, of course. I consider this and the specific advice to be absolutely serious and professional, because they are very sensitive to the individuality of each person affected and honestly describe the lengthy healing process (2 steps forward, 1 step back). There are no unrealistic promises, but a lot of hope that at the end of the path there will be a life worth living again! Thank you, Pete Walker, for this book!!!

Complex post-traumatic stress disorder
I am an affected person and had never heard of emotional flashbacks before. It can be a certain look, a voice, really many things. Now I can understand and categorise myself much better. A very valuable book that I wouldn't want to be without.

Excellent book - suitable for all people
I bought the book after reading the table of contents and the sample. It is for people with real PTSD. The only question is: when does it start? I think we have all experienced one shock or another in our lives. When the memory of it is triggered again, we tend to react with certain patterns of behaviour: Fight - Flight - Freeze - Submission. I find their explanation/impact in life extremely helpful for understanding our own and others' behaviour. Knowing that these are patterns can lead to objectification and the question: how do I deal with this now? This is answered here in a practical way. I immediately recommended the book to others and bought a second copy as a gift.

Helpful and pragmatic
Many patterns, thought processes and emotions are described that can easily be recognised in oneself and in others. The complexity of the whole subject is made clearer and there are helpful suggestions for self-awareness and experimenting with helpful approaches.

Exciting, instructive, authentic!
This book is highly recommended and you can see the author's true intention in every line to pass on his extensive experience with the subject and to contribute to the clarification of our traumatic structures from childhood in a generally understandable way. Especially if you are undergoing therapeutic treatment, but also if you are dealing sensitively with patients, this book is a good guide.

Really great, informative and helpful book
I can only say that I don't normally read, but I read this book in one day because it was so interesting and well written. I don't want to go into detail because that would be too much, but the content is very well organised and clear in the table of contents anyway. I would recommend this book to almost anyone to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships and their fellow human beings.

Information clearly explained
A good book for all those who are under stress due to trauma... and that is probably a very, very large number of people. I will be "dealing" with the contents of the book for some time to come Highly recommended, thanks to Peter Walker

Inspiring work and practice book
Very clearly written work and practice book. I find the cross-references to individual chapters a great advantage in order to get to the desired case studies more quickly. Exciting right from the start. Also fits very well in the hand.

Good to know
I liked the fact that I can now categorise what happens to me from time to time when such a disorder is activated. I have completed the "Paths to Happiness" training and can do more with what I learnt there. The aim of both options is to treat yourself well and learn to love yourself.
