Original pashmina scarves from Indian Kashmir
A genuine pashmina scarf is something special and comes from an ancient craft tradition. The material is incredibly light yet surprisingly warm. Pashminas are known for being so feather-light that they can even be pulled through a ring.
Small Indian traditional business
We source our pashmina scarves directly from the Indian Kashmir region from a small enterprise. For over 50 years they have been handcrafting pashmina scarves on traditional looms. The company is SEDEX-verified, i.e. they adhere to social and ethical principles. Measuring 70 x 200 cm, the scarf is versatile — whether as a warming shoulder wrap or a stylish accessory. The pashminas are made in a high-quality diamond weave (weaving technique) and are available in various colours. The white and natural shades are undyed. The dyes are azo-free.
Fine undercoat from the Changra goat
The harvesting of cashmere fibre is a labour-intensive process with a long tradition. The fibre comes from the Changra goat, which is native to the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, including the Indian Kashmir area.
In late spring or early summer the goats naturally moult. During this time the fine undercoat, which forms the core of cashmere fibre, loosens from the skin. Goatherds collect these valuable hairs by carefully combing the animals. Only the soft, fine undercoat is used for making cashmere products, while the coarser outer hair is used for less luxurious purposes.
Centuries-old craftsmanship
The gathered fibre is then cleaned, spun and woven into high-quality textiles such as our pashmina scarf. Each stage of this process requires specialised expertise and a careful respect for the material to preserve the unique quality and softness of the cashmere fibre.
This produces a product that honours the careful workmanship and rich tradition woven into every thread. With a 100% cashmere pashmina scarf you not only enjoy a wonderfully soft and warm accessory but also carry a piece of authentic craftsmanship with you.
Care instructions
Pashmina scarves should be gently hand washed in lukewarm water or dry cleaned to ensure their quality and longevity.
