Palo Santo is — as the name suggests — the holy wood of South America, comparable to sandalwood in India. It grows mainly in Peru. Peruvians believe their Palo Santo has strong powers — after all, it even thrives on very poor soils.
Among the ancient Andean peoples, Palo Santo was a central component of ritual, religious and magical ceremonies. It is said to have the power to drive away negative energies and is a powerful air purifier. The mind can relax and open to higher realms.
