Triphala: three "king fruits" for natural balance in everyday life
Organic Triphala Powder contains one of the oldest and best-known mixtures from ayurvedic teaching: triphala. This is a traditional Indian mixture comprising the following three "king of medicine" fruits: haritaki, amalaki and bibhitaki. These fruits have long been regarded as particularly valuable in Ayurveda. They are termed "rasayana", indicating how highly esteemed they are in ayurvedic culture.
A unique composition for inner harmony
Each of the king fruits brings its own unique qualities to this ayurvedic mixture:
Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) is known as the "king of all medicines" in Ayurveda. The robust tree grows in the forests of India and is highly prized for its multiple uses. Haritaki is one of the yogavahini.
Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), also known as Indian gooseberry, is one of the most important plants of the ayurvedic tradition. It is often used due to its exceptional ingredients. The fruit has all flavours except salty and in Ayurveda it is regarded as the fountain of youth.
Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), the third fruit in the group, grows on trees in the tropics, forming spherical pale green fruits. It is also deeply rooted in ayurvedic healing to create energetic balance and help the body to purify itself.
These three fruits act synergistically and are thought to be especially helpful for body and mind in Ayurveda.
Simply incomparable
Triphala consists of fruits that are scarcely ever found in Western diets. Haritaki, amalaki and bibhitaki thrive particularly in the tropics and are normally only available in the West as powder, tea or in capsules. To achieve similar effects with triphala, a very well-rounded diet is recommended with a wide selection of vegetables, fresh fruit, berries from the entire colour spectrum and pulses as well as local herbs and algae.
