An innovative concept for the homeopathic treatment of plant diseases. With this book, the author ventures into unknown territory and opens up previously unsuspected prospects.
V. D. Kaviraj, himself an experienced homeopath who treated up to 150 patients a day for more than 10 years in Dr Chatterjee’s country practice in India, rather accidentally experimented with the homeopathic treatment of plants. While visiting acquaintances in Switzerland, he was asked to treat the family and their domestic animals homeopathically. As the apple orchard was suffering from rust, he was also asked for advice in that regard.
The apples showed dark red rings on the skin and an increased need for water. The symptoms of redness with thirst corresponded to Belladonna, which he immediately tried on the plants. To everyone’s surprise, the rust disappeared. In addition, the apples tasted noticeably better the following year.
For Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj this was a key experience. Over the following twelve years he pursued intensive research in this field, mainly in Europe and Australia. He applies homeopathy to various plant diseases. In Australia, where he practised, his method has since enjoyed considerable success and been widely applied.
In the first experiments carried out to get rid of aphids on roses, we were surprised to note the rapid and lasting effectiveness of the homeopathic remedy. A single spray was enough to eliminate the aphids within 2 to 3 days, and another spray was only necessary three months later, again with the same success. The method has also proven effective against downy mildew that affects courgette and grapevine.
The book focuses on the importance of nutrients, treatment in cases of pest infestation, fungal, viral and bacterial diseases, wounds and weed control.
In addition to well-known homeopathic remedies such as Calendula for wounds incurred during repotting or Calcium phosphoricum to combat basal stem rot, he also uses rare homeopathic remedies such as Hyssopus to treat blight diseases, Mentha viridis against pests as well as Ocimum for tomato diseases and Ricinus communis against pests in viticulture. A thought-provoking book that could well revolutionise the future of agriculture.
Homeopathy for plants opens up an entirely new and exciting field of research, which could mean a significant gain for agriculture. Who knows the limits of homeopathy?
