Aleppo is regarded as the place where the solid soap known to us today was invented. It was here that the technique of soap-making was developed in the 7th century AD.
Secret of success: the gentle saponification
Thanks to the traditional manufacturing process and the use of high-quality, purely plant-based raw materials (pure olive oil), FINigrana® Aleppo soap achieves its outstanding quality. The soap is boiled until the saponification process is complete (in contrast to industrial soap, which is produced only with hot steam). After cooling, the soap is hand-cut, stamped, stacked and dried for 9 months to reach full maturity. This produces a highly concentrated soap essence. Unopened soap can then be stored dry for decades without losing quality.
Pure olive-oil soap is best suited for daily hand washing. It is also indispensable for washing and felting pure wool.
