Indispensable help right from the start
If you want to buy chickens, you should read this book in advance if possible so that you are as well prepared as possible and can avoid possible planning and husbandry mistakes right from the start. This will not only save you money, but will also enable your chickens to live an adequate, healthy and safe life. It is nice how many topics are addressed in this book, making it an indispensable reference work. Even legal matters and scientific principles are included. However, I found the development of a chicken's body, the tips on barn construction, feeding and hygiene and the information on avoiding diseases particularly interesting. A big plus, however, is the author's likeable manner, which makes even rather dry topics interesting and explains them excellently. This book helped me enormously to plan my new hobby. It has also given me an incredible amount of knowledge, so that I will soon be able to start well informed. And I'm really looking forward to it.
