Required reading (not only) for pregnant women
I don't know of any other book on optimal nutrition during pregnancy that is as comprehensive as this one. The tips on how to avoid toxins are also particularly important, a topic that is unfortunately often omitted in other books but is more than important for the maturing baby. You can tell that the author really knows her stuff. She also discusses the importance of micro- and macronutrients, which is by no means a matter of course for nutritional guides. Everyone can benefit from this book, especially pregnant women, of course. Many tips on symptoms that can occur during pregnancy and a selection of recipes at the back round off this first-class guide.

The new bible for every pregnant woman?
Well researched, brilliantly written, very readable. This is almost certainly the most important book currently available on the subject of pregnancy nutrition: without any preachiness. Also very helpful information for women who want to get pregnant and are on the way there and not everything is going smoothly. This book provides clear answers to the question of what women should eat and why. The author backs up every single recommendation with scientific facts. Very good! You will also learn and read about how women from different cultures and traditions ate during pregnancy and still do today. I personally find this very helpful. This book is not only about food and nutrition, but also about other broad topics related to it: Exercise and sports during pregnancy, common ailments (how to naturally treat nausea, constipation, high blood pressure, etc.), lab diagnostics for proper nutrition and lifestyle, and why avoiding certain toxins is so important for pregnant women. There is also a whole chapter on the postnatal period. Several controversial topics are scrutinised, including screening for gestational diabetes (including alternatives to the oral glucose tolerance test), ketosis in pregnancy and low-carb diets. It also looks at how diet can affect the nutrient density of breast milk. Real food and a healthy lifestyle support your body in the midst of one of life's most beautiful mysteries - cells growing and forming new organ systems that develop into a human body and new life. One or two vegetarian readers may also be convinced to eat meat during pregnancy. Then you can also check your cookware, as this is often toxic and gives the body toxins that the baby does not need to have. And if necessary, check your cosmetics, such as make-up, fingernail polish, etc., as these can be toxic to the delicate embryo. This wonderful book will encourage many women to get the food they and their growing baby need. Breastfeeding is also well explained and the author advocates it.

The right reading for a healthy pregnancy
There are few books that focus on a traditional, nutrient-rich diet during pregnancy. This is one of them and is also well researched and scientifically sound.
