Chitosan is a cellulose-like polymer derived from chitin. It is a polysaccharide found, for example, in fungi, arthropods and molluscs.
As an indigestible dietary fibre, it passes through the gut virtually unchanged. Dietary fibre increases the bulk of food, which can lead to quicker satiety in the stomach and can stimulate bowel movements in the intestines.

Adults: up to 3 times daily, 2 tablets 30 to 60 minutes before meals with plenty of water.
Note: While taking chitosan, at least 1 litre of extra fluid per day should be consumed on top of normal fluid intake. Long-term use is not recommended, as this may lead to a deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins.
