Each capsule contains 500 mg of this plant extract, which is obtained from Cimicifuga racemosa, also known as black cohosh. This plant is often referred to as black bugbane, black snakeroot, fairy candle, rattlesnake root or bugbane and has a long history of use. The root of black cohosh is prized for its content of triterpene glycosides, including cimicifugoside, the resin fraction cimicifugin, as well as alkaloids such as cytisine and methylcytisine and flavonoids such as isoflavones.
