The manufacturer states:
Herbal powder from the Indian gooseberry.
Amalaki, syn. Amla - Phyllanthus emblica - is a very attractive, medium-sized, deciduous tree with pinnate leaves, pale green flowers and round, pale green to yellow fruits. In Ayurvedic nutrition the fruits are used. The powder of the dried fruits, finely and gently milled in our production (below 40°C), comes from our Indian and Sri Lankan Fair Trade and organic projects.
According to Ayurveda, this product relates to the harmonious balance of the doshas* by balancing the six flavours. It provides the flavours sour, sweet, bitter, astringent and pungent.
*Doshas are Ayurvedic principles that have no equivalent in modern science.
