Unrefined hemp oil from organic cultivation for a special taste experience
The oil from the seeds of the traditional crop hemp can be used in the kitchen to enhance salads and other dishes, for baking (below 165°C) and also in cosmetics for skin care in many ways. The high content of unsaturated fatty acids makes hemp oil particularly valuable. THC and cannabinoids, by contrast, are hardly present.
Our hemp seeds come from certified organic cultivation and are processed by a gentle cold-pressing method. This procedure ensures that all valuable constituents and the slightly nutty, herbaceous flavour of the oil are preserved. Only the oil from the first cold pressing, which has the highest concentration of the naturally occurring constituents, is used, making this organic hemp oil particularly high quality.
Unsaturated fatty acids for balance and wellbeing
Hemp oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which can help to maintain a normal blood cholesterol level, provided they replace saturated fats in the diet.
Hemp oil naturally contains the important omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in the optimal ratio of 1:3 and also provides other valuable bioactive compounds. This balanced ratio of fatty acids is rare in modern diets and can help support a healthy lifestyle.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that our bodies need but cannot produce themselves. They are crucial for the formation of cell membranes and play an important role in numerous metabolic functions.
Alternative food sources for unsaturated fatty acids
In addition to hemp oil, unsaturated fatty acids can also be obtained from fish, linseed, walnuts and certain vegetable oils. However, organic hemp oil offers a particularly favourable ratio of these fatty acids for our bodies.
What is hemp?
Hemp (Cannabis sativa) has long been used as a crop for the production of textiles and ropes, edible oil and essential oils. The herbaceous plants have finger-like leaves and strong fibres, which make them interesting as a useful crop. Industrial hemp contains almost no THC.
Hemp also has a long history as an intoxicant. However, only the resinous flowers of the female plants are used for this purpose, and these are not used for hemp oil intended as a food.
Range of effects*
Replacing saturated fatty acids in the diet with monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids contributes to the maintenance of a normal blood cholesterol level.
*Health claims approved by the European Food Safety Authority.
