Omega‑3 algae oil
The Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica contain natural omega‑3 fatty acids from the microalga Schizochytrium. This alga has the highest content of plant‑based EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), making it an excellent alternative source of omega‑3 fatty acids for vegetarian and vegan diets. A positive side effect of the plant‑based omega‑3 source is the relief of overfished seas and the protection of fish stocks.
Why are omega‑3 fatty acids important for us?
Omega‑3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself. We therefore need to obtain them from our diet, yet in our highly processed foods omega‑3 is often lacking. For this reason, supplementation with Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica can be particularly beneficial for vegans.
What are unsaturated fatty acids good for?
Replacing saturated fatty acids with mono‑ and/or polyunsaturated fatty acids in the diet contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels.*
Specifically, eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (EPA²/DHA¹) support heart function and blood pressure.
¹ The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA.
² The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg EPA.
DHA¹ also contributes to normal vision and normal brain function.
¹ The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA.
An additional natural source of omega‑3 fatty acids alongside fish and vegetable oils
The Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica contain high‑quality algae oil with a high proportion of essential fatty acids in triglyceride form (TG). This means the omega fatty acids are in their natural form, “packaged” into vegan softgel capsules using DSM’s patented life’s OMEGA process. Unlike synthetically esterified forms, where the omega‑3 fatty acids are chemically bound to an alcohol (e.g. ethanol), here the original triglyceride structure is retained.
The softgel capsules made from plant‑based gelatine are produced from tapioca starch and are small and easy to swallow.
Uncompromisingly transparent, pure and environmentally friendly production of life’s OMEGA
The high‑quality contents of the Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica are fermented from natural algae. A culture of algal cells is grown in a controlled protected process. Unlike other algal products, these algae are cultivated indoors in water. They are therefore not exposed to environmental influences and produce a naturally pure, potent and effective ingredient for our healthy diet.
This unique production process also leaves a minimal ecological footprint. No specially constructed ponds are required. The algae are grown and fermented under controlled indoor conditions.
Because the microalga Schizochytrium contains both EPA and DHA, there are no compromises in the manufacture of the final life’s OMEGA product. The manufacturer’s production process is traceable from start to finish.
Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica are highly dosed with 1,000 mg algae oil providing 150 mg EPA and 300 mg DHA per daily dose (2 capsules). They are gluten‑free and lactose‑free.
Free from the following additives
Omega‑3 algae oil capsules from Unimedica are, as required by law, free from preservatives and contain no additives such as colourants, stabilisers, anti‑caking agents like magnesium stearate, no genetic modification, and are lactose‑free, gluten‑free and vegan.

Lutein and zeaxanthin from Tagetes – combined with vitamin A and vitamin B2 to maintain normal vision
The eyes are the window through which we see the world. After all, we take in 80% of all information through our eyes. If vision declines, it significantly affects our quality of life. But not only normal ageing, also overuse when working at a computer or intensive smartphone use can damage vision over time.
In the Lutein capsules from Unimedica, lutein and zeaxanthin from Tagetes are combined with the “eye vitamins” riboflavin (vitamin B2) and retinol (vitamin A), which contribute to the maintenance of normal vision. The provitamin A beta‑carotene also complements this high‑quality nutrient complex.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are secondary plant compounds and belong to the carotenoids. Both substances, which are particularly found in dark leafy greens, accumulate in the macula, the yellow spot. This is the area of sharpest vision on the retina of the eye.
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) concentrates in the cornea and lens of the eyes. There it contributes to the maintenance of normal vision and normal mucous membranes, which particularly helps to protect the eye lens.
Beta‑carotene is the most important precursor of vitamin A (retinol). It is therefore also called provitamin A.
Vitamin A (retinol) contributes to the maintenance of normal vision. It is particularly important for dim‑light vision and supports the immune system.
Range of benefits*
Vitamin B2
(riboflavin) contributes to:
- normal energy‑yielding metabolism
- normal functioning of the nervous system
- maintenance of normal mucous membranes
- maintenance of normal vision
- protection of cells from oxidative stress
- reduction of tiredness and fatigue
Vitamin A
(retinol) contributes to:
- maintenance of normal mucous membranes
- maintenance of normal vision
- normal functioning of the immune system
- and vitamin A has a role in cell specialisation
