Samuel Hahnemann’s attempts to think beyond the simile: reflections on the 200th anniversary of the Organon, the theory of miasms, and homeopathic practice.
Homeopathic anniversaries, such as this year’s celebration of 200 years since the publication of the first edition of the Organon, provide us with the opportunity to reflect on the origins of this unique healing method and to ask ourselves how it can continue to evolve in the work we do nowadays. Hahnemann directed his successors to “imitate me!” (“macht’s nach!”) and “dare to know!” (“aude sapere!”) If we take a critical look at the successes and failures of modern homeopathy, we also have to examine the frequently overlooked dissatisfaction that troubled our master.
