Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj

Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj was a homeopathic pioneer through and through. His insights into the homeopathic treatment of plants will revolutionise our environment and agriculture.

Below is an obituary by Cathy Mayer, who cared for him until the end:

Dear ones,

I want to let you know that Kaviraj passed away peacefully in his sleep at 6.30 pm. He was lucid and fully conscious until the end. He remained true to his convictions until the end.

Even the conventional doctor who came to issue the death certificate said: "That was a man who fought for what he believed in until the end. He has my full respect."

And he was so right. But one must admit that only Kaviraj could have prompted such a remark. To earn the respect of an allopathic doctor whom he had never met before (he was a very nice doctor).

When I told Kaviraj that I love him, his reply was: "I love you ALL".
I know we will all think of him, so my task is finished; there is nothing more to say, or so much that it would never end.

Love to you all, Cathy Mayer

About Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj

Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj, born in the Netherlands in 1946, began working at the age of 14 in tree nurseries and on ecologically managed farms. On a trip to India he became seriously ill and was cured by homoeopathy. The desire to understand what had healed him where everything else had failed led him in the 1970s to Dr Chatterjee, where he worked for ten years in his clinic.

He began his work with plants in 1986 in Switzerland. There he successfully treated apple trees infected with rust fungus using Belladonna. He then conducted intensive research over many years. The knowledge gained formed the basis for his work Homoeopathy for Garden and Agriculture.

In recent years he travelled tirelessly from country to country to share his extensive experience with homoeopaths and gardeners – from Haiti, Kenya, Canada, to India and finally to France.

Until the end he carried an immense workload, was always there for others and slept very little. In his last days he knew he would die and gave clear instructions about which remedies should be given to him.

The day before his death he referred, in response to an enquiry about the homoeopathic treatment of plants, to Christiane Maute as someone who can help in future.

Thank you, Kaviraj!
