When her mother was not constantly around her, she felt "not safe", both at school and at home. She would then whine: "I miss you, Mummy", cry and be inconsolable. She could not fall asleep without her mother, often woke at night and called for her. She was a dreamy, caring and sensitive girl who liked to help her mother. The suffering of others affected her and she loved animals above all, so much so that she gave names to her snails and insects and cared for dead flies.
By nature rather gentle and shy, she was nevertheless very playful when well rested and happy. She was a water-child and was always the last to leave the pool, while she did not particularly care for other sports.
Physically she tended to bite her nails and had sucked her thumb already in utero. She suffers from restless legs, growing pains, abdominal pain, headaches and shows early development of the breasts as well as a chalky-white discharge with vaginitis. She complains of ringing in the left ear and has a craving for fruit. Her front teeth are notched, her teeth are hyperplastic, she is prone to mouth ulcers (aphthae) and has dark circles under her eyes when she has not had enough sleep.
Interestingly, she — like her mother — is very sensitive to the paranormal.
As an infant she did not nurse well (the milk flow was weak) and was extremely constipated.
The pregnancy was a stressful time due to tensions between the parents, and her mother was constantly afraid that labour might start prematurely or was fearful of the birth in general.
The main concern was to find a remedy that would allow her to feel secure enough to sleep alone and to feel generally safer in the world, especially at school. Neither her mother nor I could pinpoint exactly what in the world was so frightening for her, except that she felt lonely without mummy and worried that she or her mother might become ill or that her brother might get hurt.
Medorrhinum, Carcinosinum, Lac maternum, Natrium muriaticum and Opium produced no effect, but with Calcium carbonicum 1M she showed a fairly pleasing improvement, which led to my receiving the loveliest card I have ever had. However, the improvement did not persist despite repeat dosing.
She had previously been given Silicea, Carcinosinum and Syphilinum by a colleague. Her mother also gave her Pulsatilla.
The key to solving the problem became apparent when she described during a further consultation how the MOTION of footsteps kept her awake (not the noise itself) and how even the hum and vibration of the fridge disturbed her.
Prescription: Lac delphinium 1M
Lac delphinum appeared in my old Cara program as the only remedy under "delusion of not being safe" and it is a milk (of course she needs a milk!). This approach was worth pursuing further ... and then suddenly everything fitted: the sensitivity to vibration and movement, the theme of safety, the love of water, the marked playfulness when well, the themes of feeding and clinginess, the anxiety for the family, her clairvoyance and the extreme love of animals....
Follow-up
For months now we have had a happy, grounded, relaxed (feeling secure) and energetic girl who goes to bed alone without fear and sleeps through the night. She is at ease with herself, cheerful and easygoing, plays pranks and can be cheeky at times – in a cute way. Her mother told me that the vaginitis had disappeared, as had her headaches and the nail-biting. Does she still suck her thumb? Yes, but only when she lies down to relax or when she is upset, and she does it nowhere near as often as before.
