Acidum carbolicum in the acute setting after an insect sting also alleviates chronic allergic burden.
In two case reports of an anaphylactic reaction to insect stings, the patients had a history of chronic allergic conditions, including a family history. Acute treatment with Acidum carbolicum (phenol) provided rapid relief and had a favourable long-term effect on the allergic diathesis. As a constituent of the injectable preparation, phenol is particularly indicated following pre-treatment with anti-allergic injections.
