Dysprosium to ytterbium on a scale from self-sufficient to stubborn.
The rare earth elements on the right-hand side of the periodic table do not appear so frequently in practice. In one case study each, the Autor describes the development of the lanthanides in stages 12–16, from the struggle for autonomy through withdrawal and loss of control to the inner freedom of a mendicant monk.
