Leptospirosis Prophylaxis in Cuba

We are informed by the Cuban Homeopathy Congress about the successful implementation of a homeopathic prophylaxis. The exact data and results will be published later.
Cuba has its own vaccine production. Instead of conventional vaccines, homeopathic remedies were administered to prevent the outbreak of the leptospirosis that typically occurs after the tropical rainy season. The results were excellent!

Leptospirosis according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention):
"Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that can affect humans and animals. The disease is caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In humans it can cause a range of symptoms, but some infected people remain asymptomatic. Symptoms of leptospirosis include high fever, severe headache, chills, muscle aches and vomiting; jaundice (yellow skin and yellow eyes) may even occur, or red eyes, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or a rash. If the disease is not treated, the patient can suffer kidney damage or liver damage, develop meningitis or have breathing problems. In rare cases the disease can be fatal."

The Cuban Finlay Institute is primarily a research institute that produces conventional vaccines for the country. Since Cuba was isolated by the US, the Cubans began to manufacture medicines themselves and to provide health care. And because Cuba is not under the yoke of international pharmaceutical gods, no one prevented the Cubans from taking homeopathy and other alternative therapies seriously within their state health system. The Director General of the Finlay Institute is an advocate of homeopathy (and incidentally a macrobiotic and vegetarian).

Here the situation described in simple terms:
After the recurring flooding of the country by hurricanes, when water contamination reaches its peak, Cuba is afflicted every year by a leptospirosis epidemic. (Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by spirochaeta leptospira and transmitted from rats to humans, causing jaundice and kidney failure and can even be fatal.)

Since August 2007 the Finlay Institute (which belongs to the Cuban Ministry of Health) has been issuing its own leptospirosis vaccination. August is the peak of the hurricane season. Every year many people are left homeless by the floods and are plunged into catastrophic situations. This leads to a strong increase in leptospirosis epidemics.
The usual infection rate remains at several thousand cases and some deaths despite conventional vaccinations.
This is partly because, due to the high costs of vaccination campaigns, only the risk groups (children, pregnant women and the elderly) can be vaccinated. The cost of such a limited vaccination campaign is about US$ 3,000,000.
But in August 2007 the Finlay Institute had about 2,500,000 people (yes! 5 million doses!) in 2 provinces receive a prophylaxis in the form of homeopathic nosodes. The costs were about US$ 200,000.
The illustration shows the entire population of the two provinces. The prophylaxis consisted of two single doses given roughly two weeks apart. The remedies consisted of the Leptospira nosode and some Bach flower remedies to alleviate the psychological stress caused by the hurricane disaster.

The result exceeded all expectations. Up to that point the graphs had shown the usual annual rise of the epidemic despite conventional vaccinations. Each year the curves climbed higher towards the end of the year and reached an order of magnitude of thousands of infected.
But this time the curves fell within two weeks of the administrations in August 2007 to values between 0 and 10! Yes! The infection rate had fallen to almost zero, there were no deaths from leptospirosis after August 2007 for the rest of the year. Also in 2008 there were no deaths and infections remained at less than 10 per month.

This is a historic event in the HISTORY of HOMEOPATHY. Such a mass treatment of 2.5 million people with homeopathy, to my knowledge, has never before been carried out anywhere in the world, not even in India, where homeopathy is even recognised by the government.
Added to this are the fantastic results of a reduction from hundreds of infected to almost zero in a few weeks – this too is a historical singularity. My jaw dropped when I saw the demonstration of the successful results in the graphical representation.

The Cuban therapists told us that they had not invented anything new with regard to homeopathic philosophy and practice. They had followed exclusively our usual homeopathic methods. And because there were no multinational pharmaceutical corporations to prevent them, they were able to operate on a scale never before seen in the history of homeopathy.
Particularly noteworthy is the application to such a large population, and it is a groundbreaking success with full scientific verifiability. The results are irrefutable and indisputable even for the most rabid anti-homeopaths.

"Concita", as Dr Heurago is lovingly called by the Cubans, is widely known and popular as a woman who has made an extraordinary contribution to the promotion of public health. I consider her a remarkable person – tireless and passionate she pursues her work and takes a heartfelt interest in the people whose health she unceasingly serves.

I would nominate her for the Nobel Prize!
