The congress Homeopathy - from childhood to old age from 14–16 March 2014 was once again a major highlight. It was characterised by great tolerance and a wealth of treatment approaches. 300 participants from 20 countries attended. Leading homeopaths from around the world demonstrated their specific approaches to treating children and older patients - from ADHD, behavioural disorders and common childhood illnesses to Alzheimer's disease, cancer and other chronic conditions that become more frequent with advancing age.
The Dutch physician Resie Moonen was the first speaker and presented the lanthanides in children in an extremely vivid manner. She presented impressive cases of learning and behavioural problems as well as autoimmune diseases. The English physician Jonathan Hardy, who received excellent feedback at recent congresses, demonstrated the great potential of spider remedies in children with problems such as ADHD, insomnia and motor disorders. The Indian physician speaking in Europe for the first time, Sunirmal Sarkar gave valuable insights into the use of potentised chemotherapeutic agents as a specific therapy for cancers with sometimes very severe pathologies. In India homeopathy is supported by the government in some states, as homeopathy can be highly effective even in these serious conditions.
On the second day the well-known Indian homeopath Alok Pareek drew on his large clinical experience and spoke about homeopathy for neurological disorders, including the major topic of "Alzheimer's disease" in older patients. Rosina Sonnenschmidt presented an impressive live case with the complaints of muscle wasting and Lyme disease. The French physician Jean-Lionel Bagot showed in his very practice-oriented lecture how he can remarkably reduce the side-effects of conventional therapy in cancer patients with homeopathy.
On the final day the Israeli homeopath Michal Yakir explained how childhood behavioural disorders can be treated in the light of her groundbreaking discoveries in plant systematics. Heidi Brand and Norbert Groeger introduced us to the remedy profile of the alga Chara intermedia, which has caused an unexpected sensation and proven particularly useful in geriatric cases. The congress closed with the well-known Swiss homeopath Heiner Frei, who explained how, using polarity analysis, it is possible to manage a paediatric practice with 40 patients a day. A varied congress that provided every participant with many new insights to take home.
